SCALP

SCALP Overview

DALT Technology Group introduces SCALP ™ the newest cosmetology security package developed for Microsoft Windows environments. This software, used with Digital Persona's fingerprint recognition devices, offers some of the most advanced desktop biometric technology available today to safeguard your information resources against unauthorized intrusion. The fingerprint-activated 128-bit encryption/decryption algorithm provided with SCALP secures all specified data files. It is design to be used as a stand-a-lone or in a network environment. Whether you have one or several schools, SCALP is the software that gives you the edge where achievement counts.

SCALP provides centralized access to the core features and functions, depending on the authority level of a given user. These include user management functions, system configuration, and database system management. SCALP allows users an easy way to run the programs that make up the SCALP application suite, including Scalp Utilities and Scalp Reports. Basic functions like file exporting/importing can be done through SCALP . (The availability of the program depends on a user's authority level.)

Each student is responsible for his/her own attendance clock-in. Enrollment takes place by having the students place their finger on a fingerprint sensor, scanning their finger. SCALP identifies the minutiae points in their fingerprint, converts and encrypts them, and saves the encrypted result in a template in the database. This template is what SCALP compares with the students real fingerprint during verification. The fingerprint image is discarded from memory. After enrollment, the next time their fingerprint is scanned, SCALP verifies the true identity of students and marks them present in attendance. Each day the students can be marked for present in attendance simply by pressing their finger on the sensor. When the software completes the scan, a check mark appears on the screen indicating a successful scan and the student's name is highlighted in yellow display on the Students Attendance Status screen. If the fingerprint is unsuitable, simply by touching it again will restart the scanning. At the end of the day when the student clocks out, an X mark appears on the screen indicating a successful scan, unhighlighting the student's name and the software automatically totals the number of hours for that day. When the total number of hours is reached for completion of the apprenticeship the student's name appears highlighted in pink. SCALP generates all reports required by the State Board of Cosmetology, and prints standard forms for student registration and skill applications.
